C'mon guys. Everyone cries at some movie at some point in their lives. Just admit it. If you have ever found yourself a little teary-eyed in a theater or at watching a movie at home, add it to the list! These are the saddest movies in the history of film.
| | Imitation of Life |
| | Splendor in the Grass |
| | An Affair to Remember |
| | The Lion King - when Mufasa dies... c'mon |
| | The Notebook - that final 15 minutes is heartbreaking |
| | Perfect Storm - Everyone croaks.. Now that's sad. (TrailerGuyBob) |
| | Rudy - If you have ever played a sport in your life, tell me when he finally gets on the field isn't the saddest movie scene you've ever watched. |
| | Free Willy - a whale of a tearjerker |
| | Saving Private Ryan - one saved, a dozen lost? |
| | Bambi - when momma dies.... c'mon |
| | Terms of Endearment - cancer, strength, love and acceptance |
| | Braveheart - Freedoommmmm! |
| | Titanic - after 3 hrs who wouldn't be emotionally attached to Leo and Kate? |
| | Brian's Song - love and death - anything sadder? |
| | Love Story |
| | Mighty Joe Young - It's old and it's sad |

| | click |
| | the notebook |
| | a walk to remember |
| | king kong |
| | message in a bottle |
| | Beaches |
| | The story of us--Great movie if you're thinking of or have recently divorced. |
| | City of Angels---he leaves the ranks of angels to be with her and then she dies---OMG |
| | Why did I get married |
| | Daddy's Little Girls |
| | Ghost |
| | Ordinary People -- son dies, son lives, son tries to kill self, mother hates, father enables, son heals, father heals, mother leaves, father and son bond. If you aren't sobbing at the end, I'm sorry, you're dead inside. |
| | Something for Joey |
| | Crash - you cry when you think the little girls been shot, you cry harder when you found out she hasn't, you nearly pass out when she tells her father "I had my cape on-- I protected you." Hell, I'm crying now thinking about it. |
| | Old Yeller -- yeah, it seems cliche', but you watch it and see if you don't cry when he dies at the end. |
| | Jack Knife -- DeNiro and Harris. You won't cry until the very end. But I promise you... you'll cry. |
| | Philadelphia -- I swear Tom Hanks gave such a great performance that I wasn't sure if I were crying because his character died or I felt as if Tom Hanks had died. |
| | Mr Holland's Opus-- not a huge fan of the movie, but the scene where he sings "Beautiful Boy" in sign language to his deaf son... have tissues handy. |
| | Kramer vs Kramer -- does anyone with father abandonment issues really need this one explained? Suffice to say it's beautiful to see a father throw in for the long haul like this. A side rarely scene in film, television and, sadly, real life. |
