The most popular video game of all time has had many variations over the years. Here is a list of the top 10 Madden football games. Where will Madden 2008 fall on the list?

1. Madden NFL 2004 (Michael Vick on Cover)- This Madden reinvented the highly popular "franchise" and owner modes allowing users to get more in depth with the game and their team. You could also for the first time edit historical rosters, putting names into the teams. Training Camp mode was introduced allowing users to increase their player's attributes before the season begins.
2. Madden NFL 1995 (Madden on Cover)- New offensive schemes and play calling along with improved graphics and the ability to choose your endzone celebration.
3. Madden NFL 2006 (Donovan McNabb on Cover)- Allowed user to play in "Superstar" mode, controlling one player throughout his career. You could import your player from NCAA Football. Added Precision Passing to the offensive attack.
4. Madden NFL 1999 (Madden on Cover)- Introduced "franchise" mode allowing users to play more than one season with their favorite team.
5. Madden NFL 2005 (Ray Lewis on Cover)- Added the "hit stick" feature allowing users to lay punishing hits on their opponents. Franchise mode added "storylines" that affected the player's moral and abilities.
6. Madden NFL 2001 ( Eddie George on Cover)- Increased gameplay included using madden cards to perform different moves along with a smoother look and feel.
7. Madden NFL 1994 (Madden on Cover)- First time a user could play "season" mode, guiding a team through a season to the playoffs. Improved player animation and playbook.
8. Madden NFL 2007 (Shaun Alexander on Cover)- New gameplay features include "lead blocker control," allowing users to create holes for their running backs. More options for the running backs included variations on jukes and spins to confuse defenders.
9. Madden NFL 2003 (Marshal Faulk on Cover)- New features included creating your own playbook and advanced features on season mode.
10. Madden NFL 2000 (Madden/Barry Sanders on Cover)- The first Madden game where you could actually "break tackles" and not fall down after one hit from the defense.
