These are the Best Authors of Vampire Fiction Novels. These are authors that go beyond the 'vampire monster thriller' books, and create memorable three dimensional vampire characters.

Anne Rice - Classic for a reason. Great characterization and setting.

Charlaine Harris - Her Southern Vampire Series is among my favorite books ever.

Laurell K. Hamilton - A new classic. Not for those who shy away from intimate situations, but definitely not "Romance Novels" either

Tanya Huff - Author of the new TV Show Bloodties. Great books, a strong, smart woman main character who is believable and admirable.

P.N. Elrod - Two series, one set in early US history, another in 1920's Chicago. Great main character/vampire.

Annette Curtis Klause - classified 'teen fiction', but I think only because of it's length. A great author.

Stephanie Meyer - Twilight series. Whether you like it or not, she renewed the vampire romance tradition.

Derek Gunn, author of the new Vampire Apocalypse series
