Tips on Building Your Own Computer

Here are some tips to help you build your own computer.
| | If this is your first time, get someone with experience to help. |
| | Try to decide what you're going to use your computer for before you choose your hardware. For example, if it's just for surfing the web, you won't need a high end video card. |
| | Read reviews. There are hundreds of good sites that review all kinds of hardware and can tell you what is best for your needs. |
| | Shop around. Online is probably the best place to buy hardware. Sites like http://www.newegg.com/ have the best prices and deals but occasionally local stores like Fry's may have sales. |
| | Power supply. Get a power supply that can power whatever you're putting in there. You don't need a 1 kilowatt supply necessarily, but get something that can handle your rig. |
| | Cables. Make sure you get the proper cables. |
| | Cooling. You can go with water cooling for a higher price but at least have plenty of fans in your case and design an air flow from front to back. Don't just put fans blowing out and in everywhere, make sure they are set to create a flow. |
| | And finally, NEVER TOUCH OR PLUG/UNPLUG ANYTHING WHEN THE COMPUTER IS ON. Make sure you disconnect the power cable before touching anything. |
