A lot of 10-25 year old Americans have a fascination with Japanese animation, or "anime." These fans are often referred to as "otaku." They often have wildly varying interests, but there are a few series/movies that are loved by all!

Spirited Away - A family classic and multiple award winning film by the famed director Hiyao Miyazaki.

Cowboy Bebop - A 26 episode series that combines jazz, kung fu, film noir, and sci-fi elements! A must see for all anime fans over 16.

Azumanga Daioh - Another 26 episode anime. A slice of life comedy about school girls in Japan, will make any fan roar with laughter.

Akira - For older fans, the most influential anime film ever.

The Grave of Fireflies - A classic for any older anime fan, and a sure tearjerker.

Hellsing - Get this for your fledgling gothic anime fan. It has comedy, blood, vampires, Nazis, everything! 13 episodes.

Trigun - What can I say, other than it is a sci-fi western about a pacifist gunslinger with a mysterious past. 26 episodes.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - A classic series for the mecha (giant robot) fan over 16, mindblowingly epic.

Tokyo Godfathers - Humor for all ages, and a touching story as well. Film.

A gift card - When all else fails, just give them money - otaku love money.
