Taking Good Digital Photos Even with a Less Than Perfect Camera
INFORMATIVE
Tags: Photos, camera, digital, exposure, megapixels
Allow me to introduce myself, I'm a photo holic. I don't have a great camera or a lot of training but still manage to capture some good photos with my cheap digital camera by following some guidelines.
| | Take a LOT of Pics - Think of your collection of pics of given subject as being free except for your time and perhaps some batteries and your time. Take more shots that you think you might need. One from this variation, one from that. With a cheap camera it's often hard to see little mistakes in your technique until you download the images. That's not when you should realize that maybe the focus was a bit off or the shadows were affecting the pic. |
| | Take the Camera Everywhere - Invest in a carrying case and just tuck it with you where ever you go. Ever see something and wish you had the camera? I used to until I missed enough cool shots to make the effort for a bag for all the cam stuff. It's always closeby. |
| | Stabilize the Camera - For the cheaper lenses of the cheap cams, it's enough to completely blurr a potentially great shot with just the sway of your hands while snapping it. Take a minute to rest it against something, a light pole, park bench or something stabil to give yourself the best advantage of getting a clear shot. |
| | Re-chargable Batteries - This is a must if you are a frugal but enthusiastic picture snapper. Most of the cams take the AA size batteries nowdays anyway and how many other million things can you use them for. Go ahead, spend the cash for the rechargables. You'll need to keep them charged and in your cam bag too but at least this will keep the costs way down over time. |
| | Look for Shadows - Many of the pics I've shot over the years with cheaper cams cannot get a clear shot within a shadow. Re-arrange the setting if you can to get the best advantage of the light. Even if you do get a clear shot with resting the camera on something the shadow could still make the image bad. |
| | Pay Attention to the Temperature - I had a camera a few years ago that worked great in cold weather but not good at all at temps over say 90 degrees. If you are taking the camera in and out of different temps you should know what temps the it likes and doesnt |
