Strong And Silent - The French Movie Cliches
AMUSING
Tags: movies, france, french, satire, funny
There's always something about a French movie that tips everyone off about what country it's from, whether they previously knew it or not. Here we've identified some of the prevailing cliches found in French movies - and hey, maybe these are what make them so good!
| | There is very, very little dialogue between characters, if any. The French seem to be masters at communicating nonverbally! Too bad some of that communication goes way over the heads of American viewers. |
| | You will see a mime in the movie at least once. Maybe just in the background, maybe as a main character, but s/he'll always be there. |
| | There is an accordion in the soundtrack. This is what makes French music so delightfully whimsical! |
| | For love stories, the male woos the female by staring at her. Not in a creepy way (if done well)! |
| | The female responds by staring back. Sometimes, depending on the character, she may blush. |
