Tags: Estes Park, Colorado, Vacation
The small town atmosphere, the fun shopping, the activities , being so close to Rocky Mountain Park, the scenery, the yummy food, and the friendly people are just a few reasons to make Estes Park your next vacation spot.
| | Visit Rocky Mountain National Park, take a drive up to the Continental Divide. You'll most likely see snow, even in August. You can also look for elk, deer, or bighorn sheep. Hike on some of the most beautiful trails or take one of the other scenic drives. | | | For younger kids, there is a mini golf course that also features bumper boats, go karts, and an arcade. | | | Trail rides up into the mountains are an excellent way to see areas you otherwise wouldn't. Plus you have a guide to point all the peaks you're seeing. | | | If going in the winter, stay at one of the local bed and breakfasts and take advantage of their snow shoe packages. Great workout and a lot of fun to see the country covered in snow. | | | For something truly special, try hot air balloon rides over the city! | | | Also for a casual meal, check out Village Pizza. Yummy, reasonable food. | | | For a special meal, don't forget Twin Owls Steakhouse. A little pricey, but great steaks and game. Plus, the fun of dining in a cabin built in the 1930's but updated for a nice night out. | | | Tucked away inside three large mountains, the scenery is beautiful. To view the whole city from the bird's eye, take a trip up one of the mountains in a cable car. It is inexpensive, and you get to choose how long you would like to stay on the summit before returning. | | | Cable cars are not the only method of getting into the mountains. There are a number of jeep tours that leave for more remote local areas every day. From some such tours, one can stand on a mountain summit and be able to see the border of Wyoming. | | | For horseback riding enthusiasts, there are a few horseback mountain tours just outside the city limits. These are appropriate for people of any riding skill level and are a nice alternative from walking or jeep tours. | | | The downtown area has a small-town feel to its shops. Their storefronts are right alongside the road and look very inviting. Many are specialty shops certainly worth the curious investigation. | | | For someone who is looking for a more comprehensive shopping experience, there is also a mall in the downtown area. The mall has a quaint layout and many shops as equally interesting as the storefront roads. | | | Any part of Estes Park is beautiful to look at. There are fountains in the city, mini gold courses out in the open air at the foot of the mountains, and a beautiful, crystal-clear lake to one side of the city. |
