5 Steps of CPR

The best way to help someone who is non-repsonsive and is not breathing is to perform CPR. CPR can keep the person alive until emergency help can arrive and take care of them. These steps are based on American Heart Association Guidelines...
| | Step 1: Make sure the scene is safe for you and the victim. |
| | Step 2: Check for a response |
| | Step 3: If you get no response, call for help. If/when someone comes, tell them to call 911. DO NOT look up and just say "someone call 911" make eye contact with them and point right at them and say "You, go call 911 and get a first Aid kit or an AED if one is available. |
| | Step 4: Look Listen and feel fro breathing, if no breath give two breaths over one minute each. |
| | Step 5: begin compressions - the ratio of breaths to compressions is 2 to 30 for adult, infant & child. |
