10 Home Remedies for Gout (with a few tips thrown in)

Got Gout? Before going to a doctor, try these:
| 1. | Ibuprofen for the imflammation that causes the pain. |
| 2. | Keep the join elevated and at rest. |
| 3. | Cherries. Sweet or sour, canned or fresh. 10 or more per day, as needed. (Alternately, 1 tablespoon of cherry concentrate a day) |
| 4. | Soak the joint in warm water and epsom salts. |
| 5. | Charcoal bath. Use an old bucket (it will get stained) and mix 1/2 cup of charcoal powder with water to make a paste. Gradually add enough hot water so your foot is submerged. Soak 30 mins to an hour. |
| 6. | Apply a pack of crushed ice to the joint for 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat as needed. |
| 7. | Eat fresh strawberries. They help neutralize uric acid, as do nuts, seeds, and grains, although to a lesser extent. |
| 8. | Apple Cider Vinegar. 2 tbsp of organic apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 tablespoons of organic honey (2 times daily). |
| 9. | The juice of French beans has proved beneficial in treating gout. Drink half cup of this juice everyday for about a month. |
| 10. | Tea: three to four cups of one of these tea's a day: yarrow, dandelion, celery seed, or nettle. |
| 11. | Avoid aspirin (aspirin can make gout worse by inhibiting excretion of uric acid) |
| 12. | Avoid high purine foods. (e.g. anchovies, herring, liver, mussels, sardines) |
| 13. | Drink five or more glasses of water a day to flush excess uric acid. |
| 14. | Don't drink alcohol. |
