Stephen King's books have always been my fav but i decided to list some of my fav short stories by him.

	SURVIVOR TYPE from the book Skeleton Crew. Richard Pinzetti, a doctor who lost his license to practice, becomes a drug mule, and is smuggling a large amount of heroine on a cruise ship. When the cruise ship sinks, he is the sole survivor and swims to a deserted island with only his surgical tools, and heroine. One day while hunting seagulls for food, he manages to snap his ankle, and contracts gangrene when a storm hits the island. He has no choice but to amputate, and eats his foot. During the course of the story he is slowly going insane while cutting off body parts for food.
	THE BOOGEYMAN from Night Shift. A man recounts the murders of his three children, whom he finds dead in their rooms the morning after complaining of monsters in their closets. After his session, he goes back into the doctors office to get something, and discovers a human mask, and the boogeyman that killed his children was in disguise.
	APT PUPIL from Different Seasons. Todd is a bright boy, a good student who discovers that the old man next door is a Nazi War Criminal. During the course of the story, the two develop a “strange” relationship with Todd blackmailing the old man with the law if he won’t dress up in his old uniform, and making him tell him all the grisly details of his life. Todd becomes so obsessed with Dussander, that his grades start to slip, and he demands that Dussander pose as his grandfather to meet with the principal so that his parents don’t find out. This gives Dussander something to hold over Todd’s head. Dussander’s murdering tendancies are reawakened, and he starts burning neighborhood cats in his oven, and then starts killing homeless alcoholics, burying the bodies. Todd’s mental state declines, and he begins to murder people, and shooting at passing cars on the freeway.
	THE LANGOLIERS from Four Past Midnight. A handful of people awake on a cross country flight to an empty plane. One of the passengers is a pilot, and when he busts into the cockpit, he finds the pilots gone, their watchs, pocket change etc…in their seats where they should have been. The pilot lands them at a Maine airport only to find that there’s no one there, and things just seem to be off. After a lot of talking they figure out that while they were sleeping, they entered into another dimension, what they call a “rip” in time which caused those passengers not sleeping to vaporize. They came through the rip and it put them a few minutes in the past. Their plan is to get the plane refueled find the rip and fly back through. After dealing with a psychotic businessman who is late for an appointment, they discover what the crunching sound is they’ve been hearing since they got off the plane. Little balls of teeth eating away at what was left of the past.
	YOU KNOW THEY GOT A HELL OF A BAND from Nightmares and Dreamscapes. A couple on the verge of divorce decides to take a trip to Oregon. Due to the hubby’s refusal to ask directions, they end up getting lost, and come across a small quaint town, but wifey has some crazy vibes. In a show of masculine bravado, the hubby wants to check things out so they go into the diner where they encounter Janis Joplin, Ricky Nelson, and a server named missy who looks like she’s losing her mind. After an attempted escape the couple are told by the Sherriff ( Elvis) that they cannot leave.
