Philadelphia is known for some tasty, but sometimes fattening foods. So much so that outsiders once suggested we go on a city-wide diet! If they lived here, they'd know the temptation is a bit hard to resist when there are so many readily available goodies. What's worse (or best) is that they don't cost much. Below is a delectable list for those that don't mind indulging from time to time. Are you hungry?

1. Cheesesteak aka the Philly Cheesesteak or Cheesesteak sandwich. True Philadelphians refer to it only as a Cheesesteak; outsiders use the other name variations. Whatever you call it, grab one at Pat's or Geno's and remember to order "wit" or "wit-out" cheese. ($5-$8 Range)
2. Soft Pretzels. Whether they're purchased at Philadelphia Soft Pretzels, The Pretzel Factory or from a street vendor, they are a salty (or salt-free for all you sodium conscious folks) comfort food. ($.50- $1 for one)
3. Hoagies. Lee's Hoagie House is a popular place with a catchy name, but if you want the underground scoop, try Melino's on the corner of 15th and Ellsworth. Fresh produce combined with gourmet deli meats and cheese barely contained by Amoroso rolls delivered daily. It's a secret spot so don't tell everyone! Just a few million will do. ($6-$9 Range)
4. Isgro's ricotta cookies that look and taste like pillowy pockets of heaven. They are small, round, white and sweetly addictive. You order them by the pound. Get me some! ($10 and up)
5. Melrose Diner has a cake with butter icing that is not overwhelmingly sweet. The icing is buttery deliciousness atop a moist interior. Perfect for those who don't like heavily sweetened frosting. The taste is always a pleasant surprise for a first-timer. (Priceless (ok, more like $15 and up))
