The shows with the best balance of entertainment and education on PBS
| | Mister Rogers: He's become a family member to millions of children. His quiet tone seems to enthrall children as he teaches them about how things are made or gives them lessons in sharing and friendship. |
| | SuperWhy!: A new show that has only been on for a year, but is one of the best shows that has come out in a long time! SuperWhy! follows a group of friends as they jump into story books to solve preschool issues (sharing, fitting in, communicating, telling the truth). All the while, the children learn about letters and rhyming. My two year old learned his letters almost completely by watching this show! |
| | Dragon Tales: If you're interested in you child learning Spanish, this is a great show to get them started. Dragon Tales incorporates Spanish words and songs into every adventure. |
| | Sesame Street: This show is probably in its twilight years, but it's still teaching our children valuable life lessons. The show has recently gotten on a "health food" soap box, so you will see Cookie Monster eating less cookies, and more fruits and vegetables. Elmo is still as annoying as ever, but kids love him. |
| | Reading Rainbow: for older children (K+), but very educational. They will hear stories and learn about concepts such as nature or performing arts. One of my five year old's favorite shows. |
