For me, the words of science fiction and fantasy novels have always been grouped together, despite the sometimes very different topic matter. Here is my list of top, all-time titles.

Ender's Game (trilogy, plus) by Orson Scott Card

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (5 books in total) by Douglas Adams

The Foundation Series (officially 7 titles, plus) by Isaac Asimov

Lord of the Rings (trilogy) by J R R Tolkien

Wheel of Time (12 books in total) by Robert Jordan

Rama series (3 in total, two written "with Gentry Lee") by Arthur C. Clark

Honorable Mentions go to nearly all of Orson Scott Card's other works, such as the Tales of Alvin Maker series and The Homecoming series.
