Six people who are important in the overall story of the Bible, in chronological order
| | Adam and Eve: They demonstrated that people are unable to follow even a simple rule such as "don't eat fruit from that tree" (Genesis) | | | Abraham: the father of the chosen people, a man of such great faith that he was willing to sacrifice his only son because God asked him to. (Genesis) | | | Moses: He brought not just the ten commandments to the people, but he also brought all of the law about sacrifices, food, and so forth. He was not a natural leader, but he led his people out of slavery and put up with their grumbling and faithlessness for forty years in the wilderness. (Exodus, Deuteronomy, Leviticus) | | | Jesus Christ: He was the living Son of God who allowed Himself to be sacrificed on a cross to pay for our sins. He died, was buried, and was resurrected. During His ministry, He performed many miracles. He could see the qualities of a person's heart and the state of the heart was His criterion for forming a positive relationship with the person, regardless of the status of that person. | | | Paul: Paul is the ultimate sinner--a man who persecuted Christians, was present when Stephen was killed for being Christian, a zealous Pharisee, and also a man who turned his life around when Jesus came to him. Paul wrote most of the New Testament and understood the gospel of grace better than any of the other people alive then. |
