Types of Psychotropic Medications

Psychiatric medications, also known as psychoactive drugs, exert an effect on the mental state and are used to treat mental illness. There are four main groups of psychotropic medication. They are:

	anxiolytic/hypnotics,
	antipsychotics,
	mood stabilisers
	antidepressants.
