George Angus, Examiner.com's Alaska Transportation Examiner suggests this top ten list for checking on a used car before you buy. Check out this short list below then click the link to George's detailed advice

1.	Get a vehicle history report. Carfax is an excellent resource.
2.	Open the hood and check the fluid levels
3.	Dirt in the engine compartment is ok.
4.	Check for gaps. Look at the gaps between the doors and the fenders and quarter panels.
5.	Check the tires for uneven wear
6.	Take the thing for a test drive
7.	Get an idea of the alignment.
8.	Check the brakes.
9.	Make sure everything works. If there's a knob, turn it. If there's a button, push it. If there's a lever, flip it
10.	Open the hood one last time with the motor running. Make certain there are no unwanted sounds.
