If you only have a few euros in your pocket. It is likely that you will need some tips on how to find a cheap restaurant in Madrid. Here are some tips based on my travels in Madrid.
| | Only spanish menu means they cater for the locals. That means that the prices are not inflated. It's a good sign. |
| | If the menus contains photos of the dishes that means that it's probably a very expensive place with very average food. Stay away! |
| | Pop your head in and listen, are they talking in Spanish? Yup, if the locals are eating there it's a safe bet. |
| | If the waiter is slightly cold and borderline rude, it's not pleasant but usually the food quality is good in these kind of places. |
| | If there's a restaurant located near a tourist attraction it is usually catered to tourists. That means it's expensive and not very tasty food on offer. Stay away. |
