How to Increase Your Child's Self-Esteem
Do's/Don'ts
Tags: child raising, self-esteem, parenting
Here are some do's and don'ts to help your child grow to be a confident human being.
| | Don't make unkind comments about your child's personality if they make a mistake. Stick to the mistake, don't go into a litany of everything you think is wrong with them. |
| | Do acknowledge their effort, whether or not they succeeded. |
| | Don't assume they are going to fail before they even try. |
| | Do teach them there are consequences for every action. |
| | Don't tell, show. |
| | Do teach by example. Most children learn good manners by watching their parents demonstrate them to others. |
| | Don't be a hypocrite. Don't expect your children to think drinking and driving is bad if they see you doing it. |
| | Do love them no matter what. The world can be an unforgiving place. A child needs to know that whatever happens, their parents will ALWAYS love them |
