Here are some tips to better prepare you for your final exams and ensure a better grade when taking the test:
| 1. | Sleep well the night before. |
| 2. | Your brain is wired to search for food, water and shelter. Satisfy those needs and you'll have more brain power. |
| 3. | Analyze how you did on a similar test in the past. |
| 4. | Arrive early for tests. |
| 5. | Draw/trace figure 8s forwards and backwards on a piece of scrap paper or even in your mind to warm up your brain. |
| 6. | Be comfortable but alert. Dress in your favorite clothes. |
| 7. | Stay relaxed and confident. Deep breaths always help. |
| 8. | Keep a good attitude. Smile! |
| 9. | Remind yourself that you are well-prepared and are going to do well. |
| 10. | If you find yourself anxious, take several slow, deep breaths to relax |
| 11. | Don't talk about the test to other students just before entering the room: their anxiety can be contagious |
| 12. | Read the directions carefully to avoid careless errors |
| 13. | If there is time, quickly look through the test for an overview |
| 14. | Note key terms, jot down brief notes |
| 15. | If you can, mark the test or answer sheet with comments that come to mind. |
| 16. | Answer questions in a strategic order: easy questions first, then difficult questions or those with the most point value |
| 17. | Review answers before turning in! I know you are excited to get out of there, but take 10 extra minutes to read it back through once. |
