Here are some ways to protect yourself from the swine flu:
| 1. | The seasonal flu vaccine apparently does not provide any protection against swine flu. In fact, no vaccine specifically protects against swine flu. |
| 2. | U.S. health officials say people who have been exposed to the virus every year, especially older people with a longer history, may have some natural immunity. |
| 3. | There is no need for the general public to wear masks. Masks may be recommended for health care workers, family members and others who come in close contact with swine flu patients. |
| 4. | It is safe to eat properly handled pork. Cook it to at least of 160F. |
| 5. | Several airlines are waiving change fees for passengers flying through Mexico because of the outbreak, but have not yet canceled flights. |
| 6. | Elsewhere, some foreign airports are screening travelers from Mexico and United States for flu symptoms. China, Russia, Taiwan and Bolivia plan to put anyone with symptoms under quarantine. |
