8 Meditation Tips You Can Use Today!
TIPS
Tags: Meditation, Relaxation Tips
Meditation is great for your mind and your body. Best of all, you don’t need special shoes or equipment, although soothing music or nature sounds are good to help you relax.
Here are some useful tips from the Ohio State University Medical Center for getting started.
| 1. | Go to a private place where you won’t be interrupted. |
| 2. | Allow 10 to 20 minutes and stick with it. |
| 3. | Get comfortable. You don’t have to become a pretzel to meditate. Sit on a comfortable mat, cushion or chair, keeping your spine straight. Lean against a wall for support, if necessary. |
| 4. | Close your eyes. Slowly breathe in deeply, then exhale fully. |
| 5. | Concentrate on your breathing. |
| 6. | To help halt your mind’s internal dialog, silently repeat a word or phrase (mantra). This can be anything that’s soothing and makes you feel good. |
| 7. | Allow thoughts and feelings to enter your mind. Acknowledge them as they pass through, then return your focus to your breathing. |
| 8. | When you’re ready, open your eyes and sit quietly for a couple of minutes before returning to your daily routine. |
