Money Saving Tips for Cooking
FUNNY
Tags: savings, money, cooking
We all have to cook, so here are a few great ways to save money while cooking for any number of people.
| | Avoid packaged and canned foods. Not only are they costly, they’re also usually high in sodium and low in nutrients. |
| | Be organized and always shop with a list. Plan meals at least a week in advance. List items needed and stick to your list. Shop just weekly and avoid impulse purchases. |
| | Buy in bulk and take advantage of sales. Large quantities are usually a better bargain. Repackage into more manageable portions at home. Stock up on frequently used items during sales. |
| | Cook in bulk. When barbecuing hamburgers, cook as many as will fit on the grill. Extras are perfect for quick meals or snacks for the kids. |
| | Eat vegetarian on a regular basis. Meat is often the most expensive item in a food budget. Plan meatless meals at least weekly. |
| | Make wise use of leftovers. Plan your menu so that the leftovers from one meal form the base for another. |
| | Make your own bread. Invest in a bread machine and buy ingredients in bulk. |
| | Grow your own vegetables and herbs. Even if you don’t have room for a garden, many plants can be grown in large pots. Tomatoes, peppers and herbs are especially well suited to container gardening. |
