Meditation for Good Health
INFORMATIVE
Tags: meditation, better health
Sounds too good to be true, but recent studies offer impressive evidence that the ancient discipline of transcendental meditation (TM) does, indeed, have beneficial effects on the heart. A study conducted by Harvard cardiologist Herbert Benson, along with additional research, reports the use of TM is sometimes associated with:
| | reduced health care use |
| | increased longevity and quality of life |
| | reduction of chronic pain, |
| | anxiety, high blood pressure |
| | effective treatment of post- traumatic stress syndrome in Vietnam veterans |
| | blood pressure reduction in African Americans |
| | lowered blood cortisol levels initially brought on by stress |
