Treatments for Rocky Mountain spotted fever

Appropriate antibiotic treatment is initiated immediately when there is a suspicion of Rocky Mountain spotted fever on the basis of clinical and epidemiological findings. Treatment should not be delayed until laboratory confirmation is obtained.
| | Children with moderate or severe symptoms may need to be treated in a hospital and given intravenous antibiotics. |
| | Treatment in an intensive care unit (ICU) may also be necessary for abnormal bleeding or for complications that affect the brain, heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys. |
