| 1. | Mongoose: Some species of mongoose can be easily domesticated, are fairly intelligent, and can be taught simple tricks, so they are often kept as pets to protect the home from vermin. |
| 2. | Asian Palm Civet: a nocturnal omnivore that inhabits forests, parks and suburban gardens with mature fruit trees, fig trees and undisturbed vegetation. |
| 3. | Fossa: In Madagascar, it is closely related to the mongoose. It is the largest mammalian carnivore on the island. |
| 4. | Banded Linsang: Eats both plants and animals; its preferred prey is lizards, birds, rats, and squirrels. |
| 5. | Meerkats: Small mammal and a member of the mongoose family. It inhabits all parts of the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa. A group of meerkats is called a "mob" or "gang". |
| 6. | African Civet: In tropical Africa, it has perianal glands that produces a fluid known as civetone (used in the perfume industry), which it spreads on markers in its territory to claim its range. |
