Sunday Mornings: How to Avoid a Hangover

We love to party. We hate the morning after. These 7 tips just might keep the head from thumping and the stomach from pumping the morning after your next night out.
| | Pace yourself: If you peak too soon you'll be taking an early booze bath. |
| | Eat. Stuff your face with food before you hit the alcohol. |
| | Don't mix your drinks: Stick to your tipple of choice whether it be champagne, beer or sherry. A pint of the black stuff will not sit well on top of a crisp Chardonnay. |
| | Drink water: Not all night of course unless you want to remain completely sober. This will stop you getting dehydrated and will help with those hangover headaches the following morning. |
| | Look after one another: Look out for whoever you're celebrating with, whether its friends or family and make sure no one gets hurt. |
| | Don't drink and drive. It seems obvious but police figures show people are not getting the message. Plan ahead and leave the car keys at home. |
| | Time to talk: Tony Males, GP at York Street Medical Practice, said that if you keep hold of your drink you're more likely to sip it more and drink quicker, whereas if you put your drink down and chat, your will drink a lot slower. |
| | Watch your drinks: If you do put you drink down, keep an eye on it to make sure that it's not spiked. |
| | Hair of the dog: Sue Cathcart, from The Plough, Duxford, said port and brandy were an ideal hangover cure as your body still wants more alcohol. Fine if you've got the stomach for it. Other hang-over favourites include a good fry-up and plenty of water and juice. |

I would add "have something greasy" for the day after. I usually choose Pho, the vietnamese soup. It's delicious and is wonderful for a hangover =) Comment by: terrasong I heard gatorade or vitamin water "revive" works great too, right before you go to bed, the hard part is not being too drunk to remember to drink one, haha.
