"To be or not to be? That is the question" deliver these famous lines and you may be on your way to Broadway or Hollywood. Here are some great tips to help you learn how to act.

1. Relax. Great actors spend their entire careers learning to relax the muscles in their face and body at will. Tension is very obvious when you are on stage and makes the audience uncomfortable. It also makes your voice sound thin and makes your movements unattractive. Even when you are acting out a scene of high tension, it is essential to remain as relaxed as possible.
2. Focus your attention on something on stage. It is your choice as to what you choose - whether it be another actor, a prop, your clothes or your hands. Keep yourself in the moment and never stare off into space. It is obvious to the audience and very unattractive.
3. Forget that you are pretending. Try to envision yourself in the role you wish to play, and convince yourself you are that person. Always stay in that state of mind when acting. If you try to pretend to be sad, it's an effort; if you are sad, it comes out in your acting well.
4. Remember that everything is exaggerated on stage. If you're up on a stage, you need to enunciate your words (speak clearly). Also, all your emotions on your face need to be more intense but remember to stay relaxed. Eyes, smile, facial gestures, etc., all need to be bigger and more dramatic than in real life. When acting in front of a camera, however, you can be more subtle. Broad and exaggerated movements suitable for stage acting often look "hammed up" on film.
5. Realize that little things are always important. If you're performing for an audience either live, or on film, you need to do everything you can to make them believe what you're trying to be. Include as many of the senses as possible, such as playing music, putting on make-up, turning on some lights; anything that can make the room happy or sad to fit what you are trying to present.
6. Breath and Alliterate. Make sure that you do numerous vocal warm ups to make sure that you do not strain your vocal cords. Also make sure that you can move your lips. You can get better at this by doing lip warm-ups such as whinnying and that sort of thing.
