How to Dance at a School Dance (for Girls)
HOW TO
Tags: Dance, School Dances, Dancing for Girls
Your first dance can be a lot of fun if you just relax and hang with your friends. If you don't know how to dance that is okay, you are probably not the only one. Here are some how-to dance basics that will make you a hit.
| 1. | Dress for the occasion. Wear comfortable yet trendy shoes like low heels or cool flip flops so you can dance pain-free. Clothing should be something cute, trendy and/or slightly formfitting so you look good without looking like you tried too hard. |
| 2. | Find a comfortable spot somewhere in between the middle and edge of the dance floor, so you're not crowded and so you don't feel like an outcast. |
| 3. | "Bob" up and down, almost using your knees for fast songs. Try looking down and to one side while you dance and raising your arms above your head really looks good. Bend your elbows a bit, sway them slightly, and hold your hands like you're about to snap your fingers, but don't actually snap them. |
| 4. | Take a different approach for slow dances. Place your hands on his shoulders and stand about a 6-12 inches apart. He will put his hands on your hips, and when you're in position, begin to sway with the music. If he tries to start a conversation, go along with it and try not to end it in an awkward silence unless he seems like he wants the conversation to end or he starts an awkward silence. After the song finishes, slowly slide your hands away from his shoulders, wave goodbye, walk away, and find your friends again. |
