With a new baby soft, fabric, baby blocks can be a fun first toy. Here is how you can make fabric baby blocks.
| 1. | Cut six 4-1/2"/11.3-square pieces of terry cloth, leaving 1/4"/6mm seam allowance. |
| 2. | Photocopy letter and number patterns; cut out. |
| 3. | Trace patterns onto paper side of fusible webbing. |
| 4. | Place fusible side down on wrong side of gingham and press, following manufacturer's instructions. |
| 5. | Cut out appliqués; remove paper backings and press onto sides of block. |
| 6. | With wrong sides facing up, sew four squares into a strip using straight stitch. Sew ends of strip together to form a loop. |
| 7. | Start and end each seam 1/4"/6mm away from fabric edge, making sure not to sew into seam allowance. |
| 8. | Stitch missing panels into place, leaving one seam open. |
| 9. | Turn block right side out, then fit foam cube into cover and hand-stitch seam closed. |
