Some storms just stand out in the minds of people and in the pages of history, these are the top 10 worst since 1900.

1.	1938 "Great New England" Hurricane - 700 deaths - People couldn't believe it was going to hit so far north, but it did (Category 3).
2.	1925 "Tri-State" Tornado - 695 deaths - Over 2,000 injuries and $17 million in damage (inflated today, over $159 million).
3.	1935 Labor Day Hurricane - 423 deaths - Most powerful hurricane ever to hit a U.S. coastline (Category 5).
4.	1900 Galveston Hurricane - more than 8,000 deaths - People on this island off the Texas coast ignored the warnings and payed with their lives (Category 4).
5.	1974 Tornado Superoutbreak - 315 deaths - 140 tornadoes back-to-back-to-back hit the Mississippi Valley.
6.	1993 Superstorm - 270 deaths - Everything from blizzards to tornados hit the eastern third of the U.S.
7.	1969 Hurricane Camille - 256 deaths - Caused $1.4 billion in damage.
8.	1950 "Appalachian Storm" - 160 deaths - Record colds, snowfall and violent winds.
9.	1972 Hurricane Agnes - 129 deaths - Hit every east coast state from Florida to New York causing over $3.1 billion in damages.
10.	1962 "Ash Wednesday" Storm - 30 deaths - The storm that stalled on the coast caused $200 million in damages.
