What If?: Hypothetical Disasters of Catastrophic Proportions

In this millenium alone, we have seen two immensely destructive forces of nature in the form of the 2004 Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina. It's interesting to speculate on the next disaster to take place on this planet.
| | Supervolcano: Supervolcanoes such as the Yellowstone Caldera could result in millions of deaths and have massive climactic implications. The last eruption of the Caldera was more than 50,000 years ago, but you never know. |
| | Meteorite Impact: They say it happened to the dinosaurs, but no can ever be sure. What we do know is that a meteorite impact of tremendous proportions has the capability of creating worldwide climate problems. |
| | Mega Earthquake: The last mega-earthquake (an earthquake that measures over 9 on the Richter scale) took place in Chile back in the year 1960. Such an event in a highly populated city such as San Francisco could be disastrous. |
| | Pandemic: As of now, the Avian flu has been mostly hype. The last destructive pandemic was the Black plague in the 1400's. Could it happen again? |
