Sometimes being a real estate agent can be a pretty dangerous gig. You are meeting strangers in a secluded house which could be a potentially dangerous situation. However, there are ways to protect yourself from potential harm. This list provides real estate agents tips for staying safe.
| 1. | First and foremost, you need to verify your client. Alway ask for a home, work, cell phone number and a physical address. |
| 2. | NEVER meet a client at the house alone, always have them come to your office first and have someone else in the office write down their license plate number. |
| 3. | NEVER get into a car with someone you do not know. This is just putting yourself into unnecessary risk. |
| 4. | ALWAYS keep a cell phone in your pocket with 911 programed into it. That way if something does happen you can simply press one button to call for help. Also, be sure to enable the GPS locater on your phone so that help will be able to find you. |
| 5. | NEVER work a public open house by yourself, that is just inviting trouble. |
| 6. | NEVER show vacant properties by yourself unless you know your client. |
| 7. | ALWAYS carry pepper spray in your pocket and if forced to use it remember to aim correctly. |
| 8. | ALWAYS let your clients enter the room while you stand by the door. |
| 9. | ALWAY be aware of all of the exits around you. |
| 10. | Trust you instincts and you should me AOK. |
