The police department identified the gunman who killed 33 people on the campus of Virgina Tech as Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old undergraduate senior majoring in English. In fact, The English major's creative writing was so disturbing that he was referred to the school's counseling service. So what happened? Who was he? And why did he do it?

	Cho had been born in South Korea on Jan. 18, 1984 and entered the U.S. on Sept. 2, 1992.
	He was "very quiet, always by himself," said his neighbor Shash.
	Cho had been behaving strangely lately, setting a dorm room on fire and allegedly stalking women.
	Cho graduated from Westfield High School in nearby Chantilly, Va., in 2003.
	A yearbook photo of Cho shows an unsmiling, bespectacled boy wearing a plaid flannel shirt over a light-colored T-shirt.
	The woman killed in the first incident (at the dormitory), 19-year-old veterinary student Emily Hilscher, was the gunman's girlfriend, and that the man killed, resident assistant and undergraduate senior Ryan "Stack" Clark, had tried to intervene in an argument between the two.
	Cho returned to his own dorm room after the initial shootings, where he re-armed himself and took the time to write a "disturbing note" before heading to Norris Hall.
	Survivors of the Norris Hall rampage had described the gunman as a tall Asian male who seemed eerily calm as he methodically killed students and instructors in the engineering building.
	Derek O'Dell, who was wounded in the arm in Norris Hall as the gunman opened fire in his German class, killing the instructor and presumably several students, said the shooter had "no specific target" and was "just taking out anybody he could."
	"He was a loner, and we're having difficulty finding information about him," school spokesman Larry Hincker said.
	A rambling note was reportedly found in Cho's dorm room. The note railed against "rich kids" and "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus.
	Cho had been behaving strangely lately, setting a dorm room on fire and allegedly stalking women.
