Here are some tips to make a long-distance relationship stand the test of time.

    		•  Watch a TV program together Even if you are thousands of miles apart, watching a TV program at the same time can give a sense of closeness

    		•  Know the difference between missing someone and love Just because you wish you could be with your significant other does not mean that you love them. Try to figure out whether it is you miss being part of a couple or if you miss someone in particular before you invest further in a long-distance relationship.

    		•  Don't sweat the small stuff Don't waste the little time you have arguing about small things and only worry about big issues.

    		•  Be honest Tell them if you feel there are problems with your relationship so you can evaluate them and either move on with the relationship or end something that's not working out.

    		• Plan surprise trips When talking by phone or e-mail is not enough, try surprising the other person by flying or driving out to see them. Try to shorten the amount of time you are separated from one another.

    		•  Be spontaneous Call at random times so you can surprise your boyfriend or girlfriend and involve them in your daily life.
