Here are some fun games you and your friends can play the next time you head to the pool.
| | Marco Polo - It is tag in the water. But there are a few common minor variations. Try this! Fish-out-of-water allows the non-It players to get out of the pool (thus protecting themselves from being tagged by the water-bound "It"), however, should "It" call "fish out of water" while some one is out of the pool, that person becomes "It". If there is more than one person out of the water, the person who is "It" has the choice of picking anyone out of water to become "It". |
| | Tag relay races - Dive in and swim a lap. When you get back, your partner dives in once the wall is touched. |
| | Pool Volleyball - Need a net for this one (which if often hard to come by), but if you can rig one up, it is a ton of fun. |
| | Pool Basketball - Same problem as volleyball, only you need to get a hoop here. Just as fun though! |
| | Chicken Fight - also known as Cherry Drop or Shoulder Wars, is an informal game, often played in a lake or swimming pool, characterized by one team member sitting on the shoulders of his or her teammate. The object of the game is to knock-down or separate an opposing team through a team effort. |
| | Sharks and Minnows - It is played in the deep end of a large pool. The game starts out with one person selected as the shark and the rest as the minnows. The shark starts in the water on one side of the pool and the minnows usually start on the deck of the other side. The game starts by the shark calling out "Sharks and Minnows, one two three, fishies, fishies swim to me!", "Cross my ocean!", or some variant of such phrase, at which point the minnows may begin to dive in to swim to the other wall. If the shark manages to tag a minnow while before he touches the wall, then that minnow becomes a shark in the next round. After all the minnows have either reached the wall or been tagged the shark(s) swim to the other wall and the cycle starts again. |
