With all the flowers beginning to bloom and that weather heating up what better way to celebrate than by doing some of these fun crafts.
| | Making egg-shaped ornaments by blowing out the inside of real eggs and decorating; also, wrapping embroidery floss or lace soaked in laundry starch around an under inflated balloon, letting dry, and then popping the balloon |
| | Have kids dye eggs at Easter. |
| | Mother’s day present craft- get a flowerpot and put child’s handprints all around it |
| | Pressing leaves and flowers, for kids and adults, springtime. |
| | Mother's Day Welcome Signs -- These are mostly made of tongue depressors. I cut them to the correct sizes with scissors. The children assembled them to form a picket fence. We glued flowers and painted plants on the fences. I attached ribbons to the tops, and the kids painted and wrote welcome on more sticks for a sign. That was glued on the ribbons with the big bow up on top. Super cute! |
| | One of my favorites wasn't my idea, but it worked out so well. It was for the letter F. We painted 2 cheap paper plates -- one green and one red. When they were dry we glued them together with the painted sides out. Then we folded them so that the red was on the inside. On the fold I cut a large slit. The children made huge eyes to put on the top half of their frog. Then a party blower went in the slit in the back so that each frog could stick out his tongue to catch flies. |
| | Kids, cut flowers out of colorful foam sheets to make indoor garden |
| | Mothers day-making chain from child's hands traced and write I love you this much. |
| | Flower pens--a great craft project for Mother's Day! Supplies needed: Ball point pens with caps, Artificial flowers, floral tape, Flower pot, dried beans. Cut the artificial flowers off, leaving about two inches of the stem. Using the floral tape, tape one flower stem to each pen cap, so that the flower is sticking off the top. Replace the caps on the pens Pour a couple of inches of dried beans into the flower pot and stick the ends of the pens down into them so that the flowers form a nice bouquet. |

Younger children might be able to do it but would need more assistance. The project is Bunny Flower Pots for Easter. Materials: Small Terra Cotta Flower Pots - 1 per person, White Foam Sheets - 1 per person, Pink Foam sheets - 1 per person, Small black pompoms - 1 per person, White pompoms or cotton balls - 1 per person, Googlie Eyes - 2 per person, Black Sharpie Marker, Craft Glue, Scissors - if pieces are not pre-cut. Directions: Foam items can either be pre-cut or done at the time of the activity. A pattern could be made for each piece 1) From the white foam cut two identical ovals (for the ears) and one piece shaped like the letter B (for the feet) 2) From the pink foam cut two smaller identical ovals (for the inside of the ears) and one bowtie shaped piece. 3) Glue the small pink ovals onto the larger white ovals - leaving some room at the bottom so that t |
| | Mothers' Day: find a nice photo of you and Mom together, crop/trim and decorate as you would a scrapbook page (with stickers and other embellishments) and size it for framing |
| | During Spring-cleaning, make a pile of all the junk you want to throw out. This pile can be re-used in both decoupage ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decoupage ) and in collages. Items like Mirrors or flat pieces of any decorations you are throwing out can be used to make mosaics that you can reuse as new seasonal decorations. An "out with the old, in with the new" with a twist... :) |
