Falling leaves, turkey celebrations, and the first snow. All these are just some of the reasons to capture this beautiful season in a fun fall time craft. Here are a few of my favs, what are yours?
| | Making "sun prints" of leaves and other natural items with photosensitive paper |
| | Paint faces on pumpkins |
| | Paint faces on baby food jars |
| | Melting wax and hand dipping candles, and making multi- colored candles, for kids 10 to 15 |
| | Pop popcorn for kids to string to put on the Christmas tree on Thanksgiving. |
| | Create your own costume for kids on Halloween. |
| | Make a simple cape and embellish it with puffy paint, beads or simple fabric cutouts for Halloween. This project can be used for adults or children. |
| | Bend two wire coat hangers into wing shapes and attach them together with duct tape. Stretch a pair of pantyhose across them and decorate the pantyhose to look like wings. Use ribbon tied onto the wings backpack style to wear the wings. This can be as fancy or as simple as you want it. Use different colored pantyhose for a different looks. |
| | Make cards using a stamp. To make the stamp, use an apple cut in half to look like a pumpkin. Dip the cut apple in orange paint and stamp. When the paint dries, add a stem and a jack o lantern face if you want. |
| | Thanksgiving-- make a thankful wreath by tracing your hand five to ten times. Cut out each hand. Write one thing you're thankful for on each hand. Glue the hands in a circle with the fingers facing outward. |
| | Kids, make turkey out of construction paper |
| | One idea for the fall would be to make a cut out of a leaf (full page size) and have your preschooler draw picture(s) of anything that reminds him or her of this season, i.e. pumpkin, turkey. They can also glue a photograph of themselves taken during this season. My preschooler and I took a walk around our block and he collected four different color leaves, a small pinecone and we glued them to his cut out. |
| | Fall centerpiece: Supplies: Pecans, pillar candle, hurricane lamp or glass vase. Place pillar candle inside lamp or vase in the center. Fill with pecans around it for a nice fall centerpiece. |
