Homemade Flower Pot for Mom

All dressed up, pretty in pink, this potted flower will bloom over and over. Don’t settle for fresh-cut flowers that die before the week is over. Give Mom a pretty present that she can remember all summer long!

| | What You Need: Coffee can Screwdriver and hammer Liquitex Basics Gesso Light pink acrylic paint Black acrylic paint Pink gingham fabric or paper Flower sticker with leaves Sheer white ribbon White craft glue (Tacky Glue) Black Sharpie Acrylic sealer spray, matte finish Rocks or pebbles, enough to line bottom of can Potting soil Potted flower plant |
| | What you do: Remove label and wash coffee can. Allow it to dry completely. Parent should poke drain holes in the bottom of can by using a hammer and screwdriver. Paint outside of can with one coat of Liquitex Basics Gesso. Dry. Paint can with light pink acrylic paint. Dry. Trim fabric or colored paper to fit the upper and lower rims of the coffee can. Glue on. Ensure the paint has dried, at least two hours. Using Sharpie, write a message on front of the can. Decorate with flower and leaf stickers. Tie white ribbon around the upper edge of the can, below the decorative gingham border Spray outside of can with acrylic sealer. Dry Place layer of pebbles on bottom of the can. Add potting soil to fill one-third of the can. Plant potted flower in can, adding potting soil to fill in the gaps and make plant fit snugly. |
