Comic Movies That Didn't Break Records
ENTERTAINING
Tags: comics, graphic novels, movies, spiderman, vendetta, constantine, catwoman, hulk, daredevil
With the extremely impressive debut of Spiderman over the weekend, it is evident that comic movies are more popular than ever. Some movies such as Spiderman, Batman, Superman and the Fantastic Four are guaranteed blockbusters, others might pass by slightly under the radar. Here's a list of some movies inspired by comic books and graphic novels that don't shatter box office records.
| | V for Vendetta HThis movie has everything: Revenge and the upheaval of a totalitarian and oppressive government are the main themes. It’s a movie with good acting, action and plot. We definitely remember the 4th of November, and so should you. |
| | Road to PerditionTom Hanks is a villain in this movie. Hanks proves he can live on the wrong side of the law, even if it is in a nice sort of way. Anyway, a road trip, murder and revenge all surround a solid story and excellent action. It’s well worth your time |
| | A History of ViolenceTom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) is a mild mannered husband with a loving wife and adoring children that used to be a stone-cold killer for the mob. Despite a slowly evolving story and some awkward verbal exchanges, the violence is brutally real (to say the least) and keeps you interested. |
| | Constantine This movie has a bit of everything covering the religious spectrum, with decent special effects too. Add a semi-believable Reeves as a demon slayer, and this gets this movie on our list. |
| | Æon Flux Derived primarily from the MTV cartoon of the same name, the movie has our heroine saving the day from a virus that threatens the reproduction of the human race. |
| | Catwoman Based loosely upon the DC Comics anti-heroine, this Catwoman is about a shy, sensitive artist named Patience Philips (Halle Berry), who is resuscitated by a mystical feline to become the latest incarnation of an ancient Egyptian cat spirit. |
| | Hellboy Based on a comic book of the same name, Hellboy chronicles a demon who is accidentally summoned to earth by the Nazis. Rather than side with evil, the disarmingly down-to-earth Hellboy decides to become a champion of the good, and works as a paranormal investigator. |
| | The Hulk In an experiment gone wrong, Bruce Banner is exposed to massive doses of gamma radiation. As a result, emotional stress (specifically, anger) triggers his transformation into the 7-foot tall, green-skinned, mostly nonverbal Hulk. |
| | Daredevil As a child, Matt Murdock was blinded by radioactive waste, however, his other four senses function with superhuman sharpness. By day, Murdock represents the downtrodden. At night, he is a relentless avenger of justice, haunting the dark streets of New York City, a relentless avenger of justice. |
