Greatest TV Romances Ever
BESTS

Plenty of sitcoms use the old "will they or won't they" tension to reel in viewers... and it appears to be working more effectively than ever. Here are a few picks for the best romances on television. Whose your favorite?
| | Ross and Rachael (Friends)- Ross finally finds out Rachael has feelings for him ("You're over me? When were you under me?"), and after months of push and pull, they finally share a steamy kiss after hours in Central Perk. It doesn't end there.... this romance stretches throughout the rest of the show, despite being "on a break". |
| | Sam and Diane (Cheers)- Opposites definitely attract this smarty pants waitress and ex-alcoholic baseball player. It also seemed to attract millions of viewers. |
| | Jim and Pam (The Office)- After sharing a kiss at the end of season 2, Pam calls off her wedding with lowlife Roy. The problem? Jim gets transferred to another branch where he strikes up a romance with Karen. We find out later in the season that he still has feelings for Pam. With the season finale just around the corner (5/17), when are JAM getting together? |
| | Luke and Lorelai (Gilmore Girls)- Writers seem to be waiting until the very, very end to tie up the loose ends on this one. Maybe thats because the romance between these two wisecracks have kept viewers captivated for 7 seasons. |
| | Chandler and Monica (Friends)- While Ross and Rachael have the limelight, Chandler and Monica's one night stand in London blossomed into a relationship and an eventual marriage that the writers didn't plan for at the show's beginning. In fact, for a while the writers were considering making Chandler gay! We're definitely glad he's not. Seeing these two neurotics come together never fails to warm hearts. |
| | Susan and Mike (Desperate Housewives)- Their romance is the only thing remotely believable (and sweet) on this far-fetched suburban drama. These down-to-earth characters seem to transcend the evils that are so easy for vixens such as Edie, Bree and Gabrielle. |
| | Carrie and Big (Sex and the City)- It took several seasons and two other engagements for Carrie to realize they are meant for one another. This New York City romance between columnist Carrie and smooth businessman Big had audiences everywhere captivated. |
