He has a penchant for choosing the most unique movie roles, with the most twisted storylines, and that is why we love him. Here are a few facts about Johhny Depp you won't learn from watching him on the big screen.

1.	Depp engaged in self-harm as a child, due to the stress of dealing with family problems and his own insecurity. He has been quoted as saying, "My body is a journal in a way. It's like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist"
2.	Johhny Depp dropped out of high school to pursue a career as a rockstar! His band "Six Gun Method" moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of signing a record deal. However, his marriage with Lori Anne Allison caused tensions in the band and they broke up. Johnny and Lori Anne also broke up in 1985, after only two years of marriage.
3.	The success of the series "21 Jump Street" turned Johnny into a teen idol, much to his dismay. Depp says it was "a very uncomfortable situation and I didn't get a handle on it and it wasn't on my terms at all." This lack of control is what inspired Johnny to only choose roles that felt right for him.
4.	Tim Burton is Johnny's director of choice. He has worked with him in five films: Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Corpse Bride.
5.	After his first marriage ended, Johnny Depp dated a variety of starlets over the course of his career, including Sherilyn Fenn, Jennifer Grey, Winona Ryder and Kate Moss. He is currently in a long term relationship with French icon Vanessa Paradis. They have two children together, but have no plans to marry.
6.	Johnny played guitar on several Oasis songs appearing on their 1997 album "Be Here Now", as well as on the soundtracks to "Chocolat" and "Once Upon A Time in Mexico".
7.	Johnny was 12 when he started smoking.
8.	Johhny turned down the lead in the film "Speed", later filled by Keanu Reeves. He also turned down Brad Pitt's roles in "Thelma and Louise" and "Legends of the Fall", as well as roles in "Interview With The Vampire", "Sin City" and "Titanic"!
9.	During his parent's divorce, he lived in a 1967 Chevy Impala with friend Sal Jenco.
10.	The bottle of wine Depp drank on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2004 was Chateau Petrus wine, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 per bottle!
