Beauty Pageant Scandals

Over the years there has been a number of beauty pageant contestants that have been involved in salacious and embarassing scandals. Here are some beauty queens whose questionable behavior tarnished their reputations.
| | Ashley Harder, Miss NJ USA 2007 Harder was forced to resign her crown after becoming pregnant--Miss USA rules does not allow pregnant contestants or contestants who have given birth. |
| | Katie Rees, Miss Nevada USA 2007 After compromising photos of Rees were posted on MySpace, she was forced to resign her crown. |
| | Tara Conner, Miss USA 2006 In December of 2006, Conner became embroiled in a controversy involving cocaine use and underage drinking with Miss Teen USA. Conner was at risk to lose her crown but The Donald showed mercy--for the sake of publicity--and she kept her and agreed to go to rehab. |
| | Oxana Fedorova, Miss Universe 2002 The official reason for Fedorova's dethroning was that she failed to perform the duties expected of her as Miss Universe. However, Fedorova claimed that her numerous duties interfered with her university studies and that she was insulted by the treatment she recieved during an appearance on the Howard Stern Show. |
| | Vanessa Williams, Miss America 1983 Penthouse magazine published graphic photos of William another woman. Although the photos were published without her consent, the scrutiny Williams was subject to was so intense that she decided to resign her crown. |
| | Marjorie Wallace, Miss World 1973 Wallace was dethroned for failing to uphold her reputation as Miss Universe because she was dating famous celebrities like Tom Jones. |
| | Leona Gage, Miss USA 1957 She was stripped of her crown one day after winning the contest after her mother-in-law revealed that she was married with two children and that her real age was 18, not 21 which was on her application. |
