Facebook vs. Myspace - Who wins?   Add to wiki
INTERESTING Wiki List

Tags: facebook, myspace, web, internet, versus, social networking

When you think of social networks you probably think of MySpace. But recently, Facebook has been gaining popularity - since it opened up beyond college users, it has enjoyed a flood of new users, boosted further by the launch of Facebook apps.

  •
  • Design: Facebook wins this round because of their layout, overall design and their is a tie with customization of profiles.
  •
  • Media: Facebook also wins this round due to their well-organized picture section and the ability to tag other people in them. They also win the sharing factor, the ability now to share media and various files over Facebook. The application of music and videos is a tie, they both are on their toes on this one.
  •
  • Community: Facebook once again demolishes Myspace insuch categories like the group application. They are REAL big on groups and it is a huge part of the site. Facebook puts emphasis on the fact of real friendships compared to Myspace. Facebook always keeps one posted on what is going on with friends and events and is appropriate for the work place too. The tie comes down to messaging, both messaging systems are simple to use.
  •
  • Usefulness: Wow... finally myspace wins something! Facebook allows you to search old friends easily and allows you to contact people even if you do not know their contact info. On the other hand Myspace allows you to promote yourself in various ways, it has surveys and other applications Facebook does not have.
  •
  • Ease of Use: Adding and accepting friends over Myspace is an easy one step process. The search and privacy of Facebook is great. It is easy to look for stuff and the privacy of a Facebook account is more secure than a Myspace. Navigation of both sites is a tie.
