Most Anticipated Sports Debuts in 2007
IMHO
Tags: David, Beckham, Greg, Oden, Kevin, Durant, Calvin, Johnson
The 2007 sports season is chalk full of exciting new players ready to make their mark on their respective sports. Here is a list of the most anticipated sports debuts in 2007, hopefully you can see one of these games in person.
| | David Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy)-Saturday July 21st against Chelsea: Beckham has the weight an entire sport on his shoulders as he tries to get Americans to love a sport they have never embraced. Can he live up to the hype? |
| | Calvin Johnson (WR Detroit Lions)-Sunday September 9th against the Oakland Raiders: Johnson has been the most hyped wide receiver to come into the league since Randy Moss. His potential is staggering, and it should be fun to watch him tear up a weak Oakland Defense. |
| | Adrian Peterson (RB Minnesota Vikings)-Sunday September 9th against the Atlanta Falcons: Peterson has been compared to Erick Dickerson and Gale Sayers as a running back with Hall of Fame potential. This is the first exciting running back in the NFC North since Barry Sanders. |
| | Jamarcus Russell (QB Oakland Raiders)-Sunday September 9th against the Detroit Lions: Two for the price of one. Fans not only get to witness the debut of Calvin Johnson in this game, but also Jamarcus Russell who already has the strongest arm in the NFL. |
| | Greg Oden (C Portland Trailblazers)-TBD: Not since Shaq has there been more hype for a center out of college. Oden is a freak of nature and it will be interesting to see how he handles his first NBA game. |
| | Kevin Durant (F Seattle SuperSonics)-TBD: The debate between who should be taken number one was one of the most fiercest debates in recent memory. Durant has a chance to make Portland remember when they took Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan by stunning the NBA audience on his first night. |
