INFORMATIVE Wiki List

Tags: Oprah, Winfrey, TV, Stars, Judge, Judy, Simon Cowell

It's remarkable to learn how much your favorite TV star earns in a single year. While movies may be the place where stars are born, television seems to be the new avenue for making boat loads of cash. Here is a list of the highest paid television stars.

1. Oprah Winfrey- The Oprah Winfrey Show: $260 million: This is amazing! Oprah truly is the most powerful women in the world and her bank account proves it!
2. Simon Cowell- American Idol: $45 million: The mastermind behind the most popular television show of all time deserves some mucho dinero.
3. Judge Judy- Judge Judy: $30 million: I can't believe people still watch her show! She's about one step up from Jerry Springer.
4. Katie Couric- CBS Evening News: $15 million: Her ratings so far have indicated that CBS probably could have spent that money elsewhere.
5. Matt Lauer- Today co-anchor: $12 million: Katie's former partner in crime continues to show the world how being bland and uninteresting can earn you major cash.
6. Bob Barker- The Price is Right: $10 million: The former legendary host raked in the big bucks each year. It's a shame he still can't host for another 10 years.
7. Meredith Vieira- Today co-anchor: $10 million: Moving from the disaster that is The View to the Today show proved to be the right move for Vieira, not to mention the added cash.
8. Maury Povich- The Maury Povich Show: $7 million: I can't believe you can earn $7 million a year just for giving the scum of the earth the results to their paternity tests.
9. Zach Braff- Scrubs: $6.3 million: Braff is slowly branching out into film, but his work on the popular show Scrubs is worth every red cent.
10. Ellen DeGeneres- The Ellen DeGeneres Show: $5 million: Ellen has proved to be one of most likable people on television and will probably be taking over Oprah's spot once she retires.
11. Jerry Springer- America's Got Talent: $4 million: Springer earns $4 million a year? Some of this money has to be syndication rights I would assume.
12. Tyra Banks - America's Next Top Model: $3.5 million: It is pretty addictive, despite her stuck-up self-centered personality.
13. William Petersen - CSI: $500,000 per show: Since there is everything but "CSI: Birmingham" and he is the biggest star on the biggest one.
14. Charlie Sheen - Two and a Half Men: $350,000 per show: For his escort-related expenditures of his infamously priapic, cheerleader-devouring bachelorhood.
15. Mariska Hargitay - Law & Order: SVU: $350,000 per show: Like CSI and Peterson, she is the biggest star on the biggest one.
16. Chris Meloni - Law & Order: SVU: $350,000 per show: The "co"-star.
17. Hugh Laurie - House: $300,000 per show: The best doctor on television.
18. Julia Louis-Dreyfus - New Adventures of Old Christine: $225,000 per show: She deserves more after playing the hilarious Elaine on Seinfeld.
19. Ellen Pompeo - Grey's Anatomy: $200,000 per show: The best intern on TV.
20. Eva Longoria - Desperate Housewives: $200,000 per show: The hottest thing on television today.
21. Jeff Foxworthy - Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?: $150,000 per show: I can't believe he is the highest of all the game show hosts, but deserves it cause he is hilarious.
22. T.R. Knight - Grey's Anatomy: $125,000 per show: Has earned much publicity recently with the co-worker controversy, but possibly overpayed for his acting talent.
23. Chandra Wilson - Grey's Anatomy: $125,000 per show: Makes the show watchable for many husbands.
24. Sally Field - Brothers & Sisters: $100,000 per show: Fabulous talent on a hidden show.
25. Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer: $250,000 - It feels like TNT spends every commercial break advertising for her and this show.
26. Julian McMahon - Nip/Tuck: $125,000 per show: The only question is... how sweet will the show be in Miami?
27. Dylan Walsh - Nip/Tuck: $125,000 per show: What you pay one, you must pay the other.
28. Joely Richardson - Nip/Tuck: $90,000 per show: It is the best show on Cable.
29. James Roday - Psych: $60,000 per show: Never heard of him or it.

Who the hell is James Roday and what is Pysch?
Comment by: Pratt

Pratt--Psych is some show on FX (I think) about a detective who has trouble getting clients so he fakes being a psychic to solve people's crimes. Also, I continually amazed when Zach Braff pops up on these best paid lists.
