Things College Freshmen Should Know

A list of things college freshmen should know once they enter college. Advice and tips that will help in the present and future
| | Forget about high school and look forward to your college experience. |
| | If you can, choose your major early and minor at least by your junior year. If you choose to double major then their will be not need for a minor. |
| | Knock out you general education courses a quickly as possible, which will be the 1st two years of your college degree. |
| | Choose a major you know you will enjoy. |
| | Plan your study and reading time well so you will not be behind. |
| | Do not be scary upper level courses are healthy...give yourself a challenge. |
| | You will work hard for your grades...harder in college compared to high school |
| | Manage study time and work time |
| | If you need help with anything and I do mean anything....ask that is what the people at the university is there for. |
| | Go to class everyday this really does work...you will be sure to pass with an A OR B |
| | Get involved on campus...you meet friends this way |
| | Live in a dorm at least once to get the full college experience |
| | Get to know your RA |
| | Get to know one of your professors on a one on one basis...helps your grade |
| | Do at least one or two internships at least by your junior or senior year |
| | A party or two is healthy just make sure you know how to party safely |
| | Keep in touch with family...they will miss you |
| | Do not be afraid to grow... because yo will whether you like it or not |
| | Don't stay in a major you don't like because you feel pressured to (parents, peers, etc) |

I would say, choose your major for the right reasons, not strictly for the financial stability. I've known more than a few business and engineering majors who are in it strictly for the money.
I agree with everything on this list, especially the last one. The changes one goes through in college are exciting, don't be afraid of them! Comment by: diperniac
