Heading off to college mean the procurement of a plethora of new freedoms. Among these is the ability to eat what you want when you want. Because of this, many new college students gain what is known as the Freshman 15. To avoid expanding your waistline, follow these tips.
| | Keep a close eye on PORTION SIZES. Be sensible and don't go super-sizing every meal. |
| | AVOID getting too STRESSed . This creates emotional eating. |
| | If you do feel the urge to SNACK, just stick to healthy items like apples and grapes. |
| | Go easy on the CARBS. Practice moderation. Choose "good carbs" like brown rice and whole wheat bread. |
| | "What would MOM do?". Consider how your mother constructed well-balanced meals. |
| | Make wise CAFETERIA choices. School eateries tend to be stocked with greasy foods. Try "going veggie" a few days a week and choose vegetarian options. |

I lived at home my first year of college and never did inhabit a dorm, so I avoided this. Once I did move out on my own I discovered my love for organic foods...this didn't stop me from (like my cat) gaining a pound or two. Comment by: buccicone.2
