If you need to sweep your mate off their feet, take a hint from these great cinematic make-out sessions. Which famous kisses do you think should make the list?
| | The Graduate (1967)- Young, nervous Benjamin Braddock moves the 'Don't Disturb' sign on the door, shuts the door, turns off the light and kisses the stately Mrs. Robinson all in one fluid motion. It's sweet and awkward all at once, and totally worth rewinding. | | | Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)- In one of teen comedy's best loved scenes, smokin' hottie Pheobe Cates emerges from the swimming pool in slow motion, wearing only a red string bikini, which she quickly removes and passionately kisses peeping tom Judge Reinhold. Even if it's only a fantasy, the passionate kiss speaks for itself. | | | The Princess Bride (1987)- Buttercup and Wesley live happily ever after at the end of this enchanting cult hit, and they prove it with their sumptuous lip lock: "Since the invention of the kiss there have been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind" | | | Say Anything (1989)- Diane is a shy, straight-A student, and Lloyd is a one of a kind romantic. This seemingly mismatched couple proved they have perfect chemistry when they kiss passionately in the rain. Although this scene was eclipsed by the infamous "boom box on the lawn" scene, it deserves a second look. | | | Ghost (1990)- This scene makes women everywhere melt. He sits behind her during a late night pottery session, helps her sculpt for a bit, then kisses her neck, which eventually erupts into full blown carnal passion. You'll never hear "Unchained Melody" the same way again. | | | In & Out (1997)- Kevin Kline plays a closeted homosexual, although he doesn't quite know it, and Tom Selleck plays a gay gossip journalist trying to pull him out of the closet. This same sex kiss is tense, funny, yet warmingly sweet. | | | The Wedding Singer (1998)- Drew Barrymore shows Adam Sandler the meaning of "church tongue" as they practice a sumptuous, sweet wedding kiss. The only catch? She's marrying someone else. The Sandler/Barrymore dynamic does not disappoint in this melt-worthy scene. | | | Love Actually (2003)- Juliet (Kiera Knightley) is a happy newlywed... until she finds out that her husband's best friend is in love with her. Although formerly aloof towards her, he shows up at her door playing a christmas carol on his boom box. Although he says nothing, he holds a series of signs to display his true feelings. Although she runs into the street and kisses him, it's out of compassion, and he decides he needs to move on. This movie is a must-see for any true romantic. | | | The Notebook (2004)- Arguable the ultimate chick flick of all time, tumultuous young lovers Allie and Noah reunite after seven years. She says, "It wasn't over for me", to which he replies, "It's still not over!", and kisses her passionately in the rain. But it doesn't end there: he pulls her into the house where they quickly end up in bed together. |
