A genius is a person of great intelligence, who shows an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in creative and original work. Genii always show strong individuality and imagination, and are not only intelligent, but unique and innovative. It can also denote a person who has a possession of a superior talent in any field. These are some people who could be considered geniuses:

  • Albert Einstein - a German-born theoretical physicist. He is best known for his theory of relativity and specifically mass-energy equivalence, E = mc2. Einstein received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics.

  • Bill Belichick - the American football head coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Known for his elaborate defensive schemes and business-like coaching style, Belichick achieved great success as the coach of the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls as head coach

  • Richard Dawkins - a British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science writer who holds the Charles Simonyi Chair for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford. Dawkins first came to prominence with his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, which popularised the gene-centered view of evolution and introduced the term meme, helping found memetics.

  • Stephen Hawking - a British theoretical physicist. Hawking is the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. He is known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, especially in the context of black holes, and his popular works in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general. These include the runaway popular science bestseller A Brief History of Time, which stayed on the British Sunday Times bestseller list for a record-breaking 237 weeks.

  • Bill Gates - an American entrepreneur, philanthropist and chairman of Microsoft, the software company he founded with Paul Allen. During his career at Microsoft he has held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and he remains the largest individual shareholder with more than 8% of the common stock. The annual Forbes magazine's list of The World's Billionaires has ranked Gates as the richest person in the world from 1995 to 2007, with recent estimates putting his net worth near $56 billion.

  • Benjamin Franklin - one of the most important Founding Fathers of the United States. He was a leading author, political theorist, politician, printer, scientist, inventor, civic activist, and diplomat. As a scientist he was a major figure in the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. As a political writer and activist he, more than anyone, invented the idea of an American nation, and as a diplomat during the American Revolution, he secured the French alliance that helped to make independence possible.

  • Leonardo da Vinci - a prominent Italian polymath: scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, musician and writer. It is primarily as a painter that Leonardo was and is renowned. Two of his works, the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper occupy unique positions as the most famous, most reproduced and most imitated portrait and religious painting of all time. Leonardo's drawing of the Vitruvian Man is also iconic.

  • Tiger Woods - an American professional golfer whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Currently the World No. 1, Woods was the highest paid professional athlete in 2006, having earned an estimated $100 million from winnings and endorsements. In August 2007, at the age of 31, he won his thirteenth professional major golf championship and has more career wins on the PGA Tour than any other active golfer. He is the only active golfer in the top 10 in career major wins (2nd) and career PGA Tour wins (5th).
